Job summary

Capital Area Transit System (CATS) is seeking a Risk and Safety Supervisor to provide day-to-day oversight of safety activities, investigations, field observations, hazard identification, and corrective actions. The role supports safety policy application across departments to ensure timely completion of investigations and documentation.

The Supervisor works with the Risk and Safety Manager to maintain accurate safety records, coordinate with Transportation, Maintenance, Security, and other

Qualifications

• Experience in transit safety, transportation operations, or related field.
• Knowledge of investigation methods, hazard identification, and safety procedures.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Respond to and investigate vehicle accidents, incidents, injuries, and safety events.
• Collect statements, photos, video, scene info and supporting documentation.
• Prepare objective investigation reports for management review.
• Track investigations and corrective actions through to completion.
• Conduct field safety observations, inspections, ride checks, and audits.
• Identify unsafe behaviors, hazards, gaps, and recurring safety concerns.
• Coordinate mitigation or escalation for unsafe conditions.
• Document findings and verify completion of corrective actions.
• Coordinate with Transportation, Maintenance and Security on safety concerns.
• Promote reporting and escalation of hazards and near misses.
• Maintain safety records, documents, and inspection files.
• Support regulatory reports, audits, inspections, and safety documentation.
