Job summary

IndyGo, the largest public transportation provider in Indiana, seeks a Transit Safety Officer to promote safe, secure environments across fixed-route and BRT systems. You will engage customers, enforce fare policies, and collaborate with security partners to resolve incidents.

This full-time, on-site role emphasizes proactive safety, exceptional customer service, and reporting duties in a dynamic transit setting. Indiana driver’s license and on-site presence are required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree preferred in criminal justice, business management, health and safety, or a related field.
• At least two years in a customer-facing role such as security, transit operations, hospitality, or community engagement preferred.
• Prior experience in fare enforcement, security, or public safety responsibilities is preferred.
• A valid Indiana driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct fare verification using handheld devices or visual inspection.
• Actively engage with customers to educate on fare options and digital fare technologies.
• Maintain a visible presence on buses, at stations, and at the transit center to deter fare evasion.
