Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Richmond, Virginia office is seeking a Civil Engineer with 6+ years of transit-focused experience to join our Transit team. This is not a remote position and requires on-site collaboration.

ideal candidate will contribute to design projects across passenger, commuter, freight, rail, and BRT, with strong client coordination and project leadership responsibilities. Base salary reflects the market for experienced transit engineers in Virginia.

Qualifications

• P.E. license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
• 6+ years of transit-focused engineering experience including track/guideway design, transit corridor design, roadway design.
• Experience with station design and drainage design is beneficial.
• Outgoing, self-motivated team player.
• Experience communicating and working with clients.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to production and delivery of transit and rail design projects with focus on passenger, commuter, freight, industrial rail, light rail, and BRT.
• Perform concept through final design, program management, railroad coordination, and corridor development.
• Coordinate across multidisciplinary teams and manage larger projects including teams, workload, and resources.
• Engage in client management and marketing to help secure additional work.
