Job summary

WMATA seeks a Metro College Intern for the Deputy General Manager's Office in Washington, DC. This introductory, training opportunity provides hands-on transit industry work across operations, engineering, IT, safety, and planning, with rotations by department for up to 13 weeks of summer employment.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
• Applicant must be attending an accredited college or university pursuing a degree in a discipline deemed appropriate for the position.
• Must have completed their freshman year and be entering their sophomore year of college.
• Intern must possess a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA.
• In cases where the internship is a progressive internship offering consecutive summers, the intern must receive a favorable performance evaluation for the prior summer.

Responsibilities

• Compiles, reviews and analyzes data; operates a PC to verify, input and correct data for reports.
• Researches data and assists in preparation of management, operations, technical and administrative reports; uses various reports to complete assignments.
• Produces tangible work products such as presentations, reports, correspondence, and data visuals.
• Reviews reports to identify problems and suggests solutions.
• Participates in training sessions and attends meetings to gain exposure to transit functions.
• Participates in and/or leads departmental meetings and working sessions.
