Job summary

The City of El Paso Texas is seeking a Transit Operator Trainee to enter a structured training program for operating passenger coaches and streetcars. You will participate in classroom and field sessions to learn routes, schedules, safety, and customer service as you prepare for license and rail certifications.

Completion of 10th grade or higher and a year of public contact or vehicle operation experience is required, along with a valid Class C license.

Qualifications

• Completion of tenth grade or higher and 1 year of public contact or customer service experience.
• Ability to operate or learn to operate passenger coaches and streetcars with safety and courtesy.
• Must pass background check and periodic physical examinations as required by federal transportation regulations.

Responsibilities

• Attend classroom and field training in operating passenger coaches and streetcars.
• Learn routes, schedules, traffic laws, two-way radio operation, safety practices, and public relations.
• Understand CDL requirements and rail certification requirements.
