Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or higher.
• Six months of general work experience involving public contact; or two years of full-time active military service with an honorable discharge.
• Valid Texas Class "C" Driver's License or equivalent by time of application.
• Basic Peace Officer License issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) upon completion of training.
• Must be a minimum of 21 years of age by the State Basic Peace Officers Examination date.
• Must be a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident with eligibility for citizenship.

Responsibilities

• Under immediate supervision, learn state and local law enforcement policies, tactics and procedures.
• Attend the police academy classroom and field training.
• Attend lectures and demonstrations, engage in practice sessions, read textbooks, and prepare study assignments.
• Respond to emergency incidents and participate in daily physical training.
• Completion of background investigations and examinations before hire.
