Job summary

Hawaiian Cement is seeking an experienced Mixer Driver (Booster) in Kahului, HI. You will drive and operate a concrete mixer truck, ensure concrete quality before leaving the plant and during placement at project sites, and maintain courteous public relations with customers.

Responsibilities include loading, adjusting booster hydraulics for safe distribution, performing routine checks, and complying with DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• CDL Class B license with driving experience and valid DOT medical card.
• GED or high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must maintain acceptable driving record and DOT medical certificate.
• Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142.

Responsibilities

• Deliver batched concrete, check conformance with sales invoice and proper load size, and deliver as directed.
• Set hydraulic pressure on Booster Axle for proper load distribution and safety.
• Drive and operate the truck safely, obeying traffic codes and regulations.
• Collect cash on COD sales following established procedures.
• Perform pre- and post-operation checks: oil, water, fuel, lights, brakes, tires.
• Report unsafe conditions or mechanical defects using the DOT daily vehicle condition report.
• Maintain cleanliness and proper appearance of the truck and drum; clean concrete buildup when required.

General Summary

As a Mixer Driver (Booster), you drive and operate a concrete mixer truck in delivering concrete as directed, checking concrete for quality before leaving the plant, and during the placement at the project site, and always maintaining courteous public and customer relations. Works under the direction of dispatchers, batch plant operators, and Concrete Division supervisors. Must have a CDL B License in good standing and a valid DOT medical certificate.

Minimum Requirements

• CDL Class B license with driving experience. Preference given for experience driving a ready‑mix truck. Must maintain a valid DOT medical card and acceptable driving record
• General education, grammar and arithmetic, GED or high school diploma or equivalent
• Basic knowledge of world events and acceptable interpersonal communication skills
• Must be self‑motivated, team‑player with excellent interpersonal skills; ability to maintain positive customer relations and act courteous and respectful toward others
• Must become a member of the ILWU Local 142

Preferred Requirements

• Valid Class B license with two years truck driving experience
• Knowledge of ready‑mix properties

Duties and or Responsibilities

• As a Driver, you will have the opportunity to:
• Receive a batched load of concrete materials from a batch plant or transfer unit, check load for conformance with sales invoice on aggregate type and size, proper slump and load size and make delivery as directed.
• Check size of load and determine correct hydraulic pressure setting on Booster Axle for proper load distribution and safety.
• Takes proper precaution in the operation of vehicle to compensate for the high center of gravity and use good judgment in determining speed and angle when encountering "X" terrain.
• Drive and operate a truck in a safe and responsible manner, observing all traffic codes and conform to established Federal and State regulations.
• Collect cash on C.O.D. sales while following established procedures.
• Perform pre and post operational checks to include checking oil, water and fuel levels, check all light systems, braking system and tires to ensure safe equipment operation.
• Report any unsafe condition or any mechanical defect of his truck on a daily basis using the D.O.T. daily vehicle condition report.
• Responsible for the cleanliness and proper appearance of the truck and drum. Clean out concrete buildup in drum when required.
• Assist mechanics or other tradesperson on emergency repairs.
• Must be able to lift a 40lb chute minimum 8 times a day. Employee must also be able to climb up and down the rear pedestal ladder 6 times per day.
• Perform such similar, comparable or related duties as may be assigned or required.
