Job description

Position Summary

Drive a transit mixer truck to deliver concrete mix and other related construction products to job sites. $2500 Hiring Bonus!

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Abide by Company Safety Program and Policies, while performing duties safely.
  • Daily perform a pre and post-trip safety check (walk around inspection) on equipment and the truck to assure a safe vehicle. Document any maintenance that may be required.
  • Fill fuel and water tanks. Record fuel and interstate mileage on Form 75.
  • Maintain log book and other records to meet DOT and company regulations.
  • Back or drive truck under loading hopper, prepare mixer to receive sand, gravel, cement, and water and start mixer following guidelines and instructions by plant personnel and plant foreman.
  • Drive truck to designated job site for unloading. Deliver and unload concrete support products as needed. Must distinguish between safe and unsafe conditions at the job site, in traffic and throughout plant areas. Communicate information by use of the radio.
  • Assemble concrete chute and attach chute to the back of the truck. Control appropriate levers on truck to discharge concrete according to specifications from the contractor into a conveying device or directly into forms.
  • Clean truck after unloading and prepare truck for return to plant. Replace chutes on truck and make certain everything is secure and safe for travel. Maintain functionality and appearance of truck and equipment using truck cleaning compounds and wearing PPE according to company policy.
  • Report customer complaints, equipment problems, job site concerns, traffic problems and product concerns to supervisor.
  • Record information as directed on shipping tickets, equipment logs, timecards and other assigned records.
  • Perform minor routine maintenance to assigned vehicle daily or as needed (check tire pressure, lube ring on mixer drum, check all fluid levels i.e. coolant, fuel, oil).
  • When the workload is light, assist other areas – repair/maintenance in the plant area, yard clean‑up, pallet repair and other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements and Education
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have a Class B CDL or will train to get Class B CDL during onboarding.
  • Must have a valid NE driver’s license and able to meet insurability requirements of the company insurance program.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, city directories, Trakit GPS device, road maps, load tickets, SDS sheets and memos.
  • Must meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) physical requirements and carry a physical exam card, which is to be kept current according to DOT guidelines.
  • Must be able to work a flexible work schedule during busy season. Must be able to work late or irregular hours.
  • Previous knowledge of construction and construction products is helpful.

Working Conditions

The employee is occasionally required to sit, use hands and fingers to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.

Using the ladder mounted on the mixer, climb to a height of 12 feet 50 times per day.

The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 55 pounds.

Must be able to lift, place and set warehouse products as required during load preparation, loading and unloading.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Must wear protective devices as required by the company safety policy in the performance of the job.

The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions (may be extreme hot/cold), wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts, minimal amount of non-hazardous dust daily and fumes or other possible airborne particles.

The employee is occasionally exposed to high and precarious places which require the agility to maintain balance.

Noise level in the work environment is usually loud to very loud. May be vibration from equipment.

This is a tobacco free campus and work location.
