Job summary

King County Metro Transit is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Transit Engineer IV) to deliver high-quality engineering for capital projects, focusing on HVAC, utilities, fueling, and maintenance systems. You will coordinate with other disciplines, review reports, and support project management from design through construction.

Qualifications

• Active Professional Engineer (PE) license in WA State; reciprocity for non-WA licenses within six months.
• Analytical, innovative, and able to make independent decisions.
• Knowledge of laws, codes, LEED/Green Building principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze project alternatives; prepare/mechanical designs, specs, and cost estimates for transit facility capital projects (HVAC, utilities, fueling, fluid distribution).
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural and civil units.
• Review consultant predesign reports and cost estimates; assist project managers with scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Provide engineering support to construction managers including submittal reviews and field inspections.
• Engage with stakeholders/regulatory agencies; maintain relationships with internal/external customers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
