Job summary

King County Metro Transit is seeking a Mechanical Engineer (Transit Engineer IV) to join the Capital Division’s Engineering Services. You will support HVAC, fuel and fluid systems, and collaborate across disciplines to ensure reliable facilities for daily operations.

The role requires a BS in engineering, a WA PE license (or reciprocity with six months to obtain WA licensure) and five years’ experience. This is a hybrid position based in Seattle, with opportunities to advance sustainability

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in engineering from a nationally accredited university.
• Five years’ engineering experience and five years as a licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in WA or reciprocity.
• Analytical, innovative, and able to make independent decisions.
• Ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop and analyze project alternatives, and prepare mechanical designs, specs, and cost estimates for transit facility capital projects (HVAC, utilities, fueling and fluid systems).
• Coordinate mechanical designs with electrical, structural, and civil units.
• Review consultant predesign reports, designs, specs and cost estimates.
• Assist project managers with scopes, budgets and schedules.
• Provide engineering support to construction managers, including submittal reviews and field inspections.
• Engage with Metro Transit stakeholders and regulatory agencies to address concerns.
