Job summary

King County Metro Transit is hiring a Building Operating Engineer to diagnose, repair, and maintain HVAC/R systems across facilities. You will perform diagnostics, execute routine maintenance, and ensure energy-efficient operation of boilers, chillers, air handlers, and controls. A strong foundation in DDC and BAS/BMS is required.

Qualifications

• Some journey-level HVAC/R experience with refrigeration and boilers.
• Knowledge of Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and line voltage controls.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and operating BAS/BMS.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics and repairs on HVAC systems and controls.
• Carry out routine maintenance and predictive maintenance tasks.
• Troubleshoot air handling units, boilers, chillers, and energy systems.
• Use BAS/BMS to locate problems and take corrective actions.
• Maintain logs and reports; manage parts and tools.
