Job summary

The State of Connecticut Department of Transportation seeks a Fiscal/Administrative Manager 1 in the Bureau of Finance and Administration, Division of Financial Management and Support, to oversee budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and contract administration for Bus Transit, Ferries, and Rail operations.

The role requires strong financial management experience within a public agency environment and leadership of professional staff.

Qualifications

• Nine (9) years of experience in fiscal/administrative functions with at least one accounting function.
• One (1) year of supervising professional staff.
• Substitutions allowed: college hours equalling years of experience for a degree, up to 4 years.
• Preferred: Bachelor's or Master's in accounting/finance; budgeting and forecasting; process improvements; supervising financial staff; advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

• Oversee budgeting, accounting, payroll, purchasing and contract administration for assigned units.
• Oversee daily deposit processing and financial reporting.
• Coordinate fiscal functions including budget preparation, management and analysis.
• Provide staff training and conduct performance evaluations.
• Liaise with other units and external officials on policies and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
