Job summary

The Metropolitan Council provides regional transportation, wastewater, and housing services for the Twin Cities area. The Manager, MT Accounting will lead strategic accounting for Metro Transit and coordinate financial reporting to internal executives and external partners.

The role emphasizes strong financial controls, audit readiness, and collaboration across operating and capital budgets to support timely, accurate financial information.

Qualifications

• Experience in accounting, budgeting, or financial management with at least 3 years in supervisory roles.
• Education in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
• Ability to coordinate and report financial information to senior management and external partners.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and report monthly/quarterly financial information with forecasts for the balance of the year to Metro Transit General Manager, Director of Finance, and Management Committee.
• Coordinate, develop, prioritize, and oversee Ad Hoc Reporting Requests to ensure consistency and compliance with budgets and financial reporting.
• Coordinate preparation for Federal, State annual audits, and internal and state audits for Metro Transit.
• Coordinate and manage cash management of Metro Transit's operating and capital activities to ensure adequate cash on hand for obligations.
• Manage fixed asset and inventory accounting to track assets and inventory accurately.
• Coordinate grants accounting with grants management to ensure proper expenditure and reporting to the FTA.
