Job summary

The Metropolitan Council is seeking an Accountant to perform general ledger accounting for basic governmental funds, including reconciliation of balances and preparation of grant billings and journal entries. The role supports monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reporting and contributes to the preparation of the ACFR.

The incumbent will work with Financial Analysts and Division staff to ensure accurate financial statements and timely reporting for the Council’s programs.

Responsibilities

• General ledger accounting for basic governmental funds (General Fund, Capital Projects Funds, and/or Special Revenue Funds).
• Reconcile account balances and prepare state and federal grant reimbursement billings.
• Create and review journal entries and generate monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports.
• Assist in preparation of financial statements for the Council's ACFR.
