Job summary

The City of Gainesville is seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker for the Regional Transit System (RTS) facilities. The role involves performing skilled and semi-skilled tasks, including maintenance, repairs, and installation work under supervision.

You will work on shelters, lights, plumbing, electricals, and grounds maintenance to keep RTS facilities safe and functional. Required education includes a high school diploma or equivalent with at least 12 months of maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 12 months of maintenance/repair experience.
• Forklift Certification required within 3 months; Aerial Lift Certification within 6 months; Scissor Lift Certification within 6 months; MOT Certification within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Constructs, repairs, and maintains roadside shelters, lights, solar panels, benches, and trash cans.
• Installs and repairs hardware on shelters, lights, solar panels, benches, and trash cans; minor electrical repairs.
• Performs carpentry and painting tasks, including prefabrication and assembly tasks.
• Repairs and replaces toilets and sinks; performs minor plumbing repairs.
• Repairs and replaces electrical outlets/lights; performs minor electrical repairs.
• Reads sketches, blueprints, and instruction material.
• Performs routine grounds and preventive maintenance at bus stops and transit facilities.
