A local community services organization in South Dakota is seeking a part-time Transit Driver to provide safe and efficient transportation within the local service area. Responsibilities include transporting passengers according to a schedule, performing vehicle maintenance, and assisting those in need. Applicants must have a valid driver's license, good communication skills, and a positive driving record. This position operates Monday to Friday, 8 AM - 4:30 PM.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Must be physically able to assist persons needing help while using the service.
• All applicants will be subject to a criminal background fingerprint check.

Responsibilities

• Transport passengers over specified routes according to a time schedule.
• Perform and record manufacturer recommended maintenance/repairs of the vehicle.
• Assist passengers in entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Assist frail or disabled riders to door and help carry packages if needed.
• Inform supervisor of progress and any problems.
• Maintain required records and reporting.
• Comply with traffic regulations.
• Perform daily vehicle inspections.
• Keep vehicle clean and orderly.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions.

Job Summary

Provide safe and efficient transportation for residents living in the local service area. ROCS Transit primarily operates between the hours of Monday – Friday, 8-4:30p. Vehicles primarily operated include paratransit vans, mini-vans, and buses.

• Transport passengers over specified routes according to time schedule.
• Perform and record manufacturer recommended maintenance/repairs of vehicle.
• Assist passengers in entering and exiting vehicle.
• Assist frail and disabled persons to door and carry packages if necessary.
• Inform supervisor of progress and problem areas.
• Maintain required records and reporting.
• Comply with traffic regulations.
• Perform required daily vehicle inspection.
• Ensure that vehicle is kept clean and orderly.
• Maintain confidentiality in appropriate matters.
• Attend necessary staff meetings and training sessions.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license, a good driving record and proof of auto insurance.
• Must be physically able to assist persons needing help while using the service.
