Job summary

Omnitrans is hiring a motivated professional to operate public transit coaches on assigned routes in accordance with published schedules. You will ensure passenger safety, collect fares, and assist riders, including those with disabilities, while maintaining a courteous demeanor.

The role requires a California Class B driver's license, a clean driving record, and a stable work history. Training lasts up to six weeks with pay, followed by a higher hourly rate.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of safe operation of public transit vehicles and willingness to follow regulations.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with passengers and coworkers.
• Commitment to punctual attendance and dependable service, including overtime per union guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Completes a mandatory pre-trip and post-trip inspection, including Air Brake test.
• Operates public transit coaches over assigned routes safely and on schedule.
• Secures fares and provides transfers and route information to passengers.
• Assists persons with disabilities with boarding/alighting and use of ramps or securement systems.
• Observes and complies with traffic laws, agency rules, and safety policies.
• Exhibits tact and courtesy with passengers and the public.
• Completes accident and incident reports as required.
• Maintains punctual and regular attendance to provide dependable service.
