Qualifications

• Previous childcare experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times.
• Maintain required staff-to-child ratios.
• Assist with daily activities, routines, meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, classroom preparation, and cleaning.
• Document medication administration, diapering, feeding, naps, and other required information as applicable to the assigned classroom.
• Follow established classroom routines and Center policies related to supervision, sleeping procedures, health, hygiene, behavior and safety.
• Observe and report any special needs, concerns, or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the Director immediately.
• Provide guidance and feedback to student workers and communicate concerns or training needs to the Director or Assistant Director.
• Assist with Center-wide projects, events, staff training, classroom preparation, administrative tasks, or other operational needs as assigned.
• Complete at least 12 hours of approved educational training annually, as well as CPR/First Aid, Health and Safety, Medication Administration, and other required training.

Transient Assistant Teacher Position Summary

The Transient Teacher is a flexible position responsible for supporting the staffing, classroom, and operational needs of LSUA Children’s Center. Transient Teachers may be assigned to a classroom on a regular or as-needed basis, provide coverage during staff absences, support student workers, or assist with other specialized responsibilities based on the needs of the Center and the employee’s experience and strengths.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise and ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times, being alert to individual and group needs. Know how many children are in your care at all times, as well as their names and ages, and maintain required staff-to-child ratios. Assist with or assume classroom responsibilities as assigned, including daily activities, routines, meals, diapering/toileting, rest time, classroom preparation, and cleaning. Document medication administration, diapering, feeding, naps, and other required information as applicable to the assigned classroom. Administer medication only when appropriately trained and in accordance with the Center’s Medication Policy. Follow established classroom routines and Center policies related to supervision, sleeping procedures, health, hygiene, behavior and safety. Observe and report any special needs, concerns, or suspected cases of child abuse or neglect to the Director immediately. Provide guidance and feedback to student workers and communicate concerns or additional training needs to the Director or Assistant Director. Assist with Center-wide projects, events, staff training, classroom preparation, administrative tasks, or other operational needs as assigned. Follow all Center policies and procedures. Complete special assignments as designated by the Director, which may include supporting staff or student worker orientation and training, assisting with Center-wide projects or initiatives, providing administrative or operational support, or fulfilling other responsibilities based on Center needs and the employee’s experience and strengths. Complete at least 12 hours of approved educational training annually, as well as CPR/First Aid, Health and Safety, Medication Administration, and other required training.
