Job summary

The University of Washington Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor (WOT) in Transfusion Medicine to join our faculty. The position emphasizes excellence in clinical care, teaching, and research, with an anticipated start date September 1, 2026.

The successful candidate will provide leadership across UW medical centers, supervise laboratory operations, participate in patient blood management, and mentor residents and fellows.

Qualifications

• MD or DO or foreign equivalent (MD/PhD acceptable).
• Board-certified in Anatomic or Clinical Pathology, or related specialty.
• Board-eligible or certified in Transfusion Medicine by time of appointment.
• Licensed to practice medicine in Washington.

Responsibilities

• Join Transfusion Medicine Division faculty and contribute to clinical care across campuses.
• Share clinical call coverage and provide consultation on complex transfusion cases.
• Oversee operations and quality initiatives for transfusion service laboratories.
• Engage in patient blood management, teaching, mentoring, and scholarly activities.
• Effort distribution approximately 40% clinical, 30% operations/quality, 30% research/teaching/mentoring.
