The Role

As we continue to grow as QuidelOrtho, we are seeking a Transfusion Medicine Business Development Manager in the Gulf Region. This position is a front-line quota-carrying teammate responsible for the sale of Transfusion Medicine product lines to customers within a geographic territory. The position is responsible for acquisition, conversion, implementation, and adoption of competitive Transfusion Medicine accounts. Additionally, it focuses on retention of high-value strategic current customers by teaming with Account Managers, Technical Specialists, and Strategic Account Executives as applicable. This is a field-based position covering the Gulf Region, including South Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, and Tennessee.

The Responsibilities

  • Converts competitive/new customer accounts. Develops customer acceptance by establishing personal accountability, illustrating QuidelOrtho value propositions, demonstrating product capabilities, and successfully managing high-probability opportunities to close.
  • Acts as the subject matter expert for all competitive instrumentation and shares insights with the team.
  • Adopts and expands business within Transfusion Medicine accounts. Remain involved/informed through the renewal process.
  • Drives Transfusion Medicine instrument placements within an assigned territory.
  • Develops and executes strategic territory plans to prioritize, pursue, and convert competitive customer accounts to meet annual quotas, KPIs, and sales goals.
  • Teams with Strategic Account Executives in all relevant IDN-related planning activities.
  • Develops and leverages relationships with key stakeholders, forms and executes customer touchpoint/call plans based on the customer's buying cycle, manages opportunities within and outside of the buying/sales cycle, leverages strategic selling frameworks.
  • Assists with transition planning for newly converted customers and contributes to introductions to Account Managers.
  • Teams with appropriate technical teams as well as Inside Sales to target and convert stand-alone, non-standardized IDNs.
  • Provides timely and accurate sales forecasts, activity, account updates, and reports via CRM system and collaborates with Marketing to identify opportunities for equipment placement in CRM environment.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

The Individual

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Minimum of 5 years of sales experience in the Healthcare industry, with knowledge of B2B sales and/or distribution sales.
  • Strong business development, strategic marketing, and data analysis skills.
  • Solid Transfusion Medicine market knowledge.
  • Ability to handle confidential information.
  • Strategic thinking skills and ability to translate strategies into executable tactical action plans.
  • Ability to deliver results in a highly independent and fast-paced team environment.
  • Commercial and business acumen, with proficiency in uncovering key business issues and providing actionable recommendations.
  • Experience managing complex sales cycles internally and externally.
  • Ability to analyze financial data and generate logical strategies based on analysis.
  • Strong presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to uphold and support individual and company values.

Preferred:

  • 7 years of sales experience in the Healthcare industry, with knowledge of B2B or distribution sales.
  • Experience in hospital or physician office lab sales, or distribution, capital equipment sales.
  • Specialist Blood Bank (SBB) Certification (preferred).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Internal candidates: Account Managers/Sales Reps with a proven track record over 3 years and customer excellence.

Key Working Relationships

  • Works in partnership with distribution partners, marketing, Customer Enablement, other field sales reps, and technical specialists.
  • Interacts with Sales Leadership, Specialty Sales, Sales Administration, and Distribution to maximize achievement of corporate goals and interacts with other organizational aspects as required (e.g., Finance, P&C, IT, Customer Service, etc.)

The Work Environment

Typical outside sales environment. Must have discipline, organization skills, and self-motivation to work automatically in a home office environment.

The Physical Demands

Must be physically able to travel up to 70%. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and own and maintain an automobile suitable for travel to customer sites, airports, etc. Travel includes airplane, train, automobile, and overnight stays. On a typical workday, 80% of time is spent meeting with people, 20% on computer, doing paperwork, or on the phone. Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and talk or hear. Frequently required to stand, walk, and sit. Occasionally required to reach, climb, or balance.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position is $94,000 to $140,000 and is eligible for incentive compensation. It considers factors such as education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and candidate abilities. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life, disability insurance, 401(k), employee assistance, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off, and holidays. Benefits are non-contractual and may be amended or terminated.
