Job summary

RMS Energy is seeking a Transformer Technician I to support transformer assembly, oil processing, and on-site service across the United States. This hands-on role involves installation, maintenance, and repair of transformers from various OEMs at power plants and substations.

You will work in a safety-first, team-driven environment with opportunities for growth and travel up to 80% across the continental U.S. High school diploma or GED and valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

  • Up to one year of transformer oil processing, service, or assembly experience preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office and online platforms.
  • Clear and professional communication, ability to follow instructions.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently while meeting team objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble transformer components such as radiators, bushings, and conservators.
  • Perform degassing, pressure, and vacuum testing using dehydrator units.
  • Re-gasket units and fabricate gaskets or O-rings as needed.
  • Assist with teardown and preparation of transformers for transport or disposal.
  • Identify and resolve basic wiring and mechanical issues.
  • Complete assigned tasks and daily work orders accurately and on schedule.
  • Inspect and operate tools, vehicles, and heavy equipment safely.
  • Follow safety protocols and PPE requirements when working near hazards.
  • Support the sales team by reporting project opportunities and potential customer leads.
