Job summary

Katy Independent School District is seeking a SPED Resource/ICS Secondary Teacher to provide consultation and instruction for students with disabilities. Coordinate with campus staff, district SPED staff, and families on ARD paperwork, IEPs, and BIP progress.

The role requires collaboration with general education teachers, developing PLAAFP and yearly goals, and administering state assessments while maintaining confidential records. Immediate start. 187-day schedule and IQ00 pay grade.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Valid Texas certificate in appropriate area.
• Ability to work effectively between the school and community.
• Effective written & verbal communication skills.
• CPI Certificate, once employed.

Responsibilities

• Prepare ARD/IEP meetings for students eligible for special education.
• Complete local, state and federal paperwork required for program participation.
• Develop instructional programs for eligible students to achieve mastery of essential knowledge and skills.
• Collaborate with regular education teachers and related service staff to develop PLAAFP and annual goals/objectives for IEPs.
• Administer criterion referenced testing.
• Keep current and be willing to apply state-of-the-art educational practices.
• Oversee paraprofessional duties including data collection and instruction.
• Collect and maintain data related to student progress and grades.
• Report progress on IEP goals/objectives and grades per policy/ARD documents.
• Provide appropriate behavior management techniques for eligible students.
• Complete State Assessment requirements for eligible students.
• Communicate regularly with general education staff and parents/guardians.
• Maintain confidential student records and audit folders.
• Attend required trainings and staff development.
• Other SHARS duties as assigned.
• Provide Personal Care as identified in applicable student IEPs.
