Job summary

Katy Independent School District seeks an Aide - SPED to support students with disabilities at the Katy Behavior Learning Center. The role includes clerical and student-care tasks, reporting to the Director for Specialized Programs.

Expect 187 duty days, non-exempt pay, and immediate starting date, with responsibilities across instructional support and data collection. The position requires 15 college hours or a diploma/GED with ParaPro credit, plus a Paraprofessional Educational Aide II

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate and work with students with disabilities.
• Maintain effective working relationships with staff and students.
• Minimum clerical skills required.
• Good physical and emotional condition.
• Handle confidential student records responsibly.
• ParaPro score requirement (464) if using high school diploma path.
• Paraprofessional certificate required; CPI certification after hire.
• CDL requirement or willingness to earn within the first year.

Responsibilities

• Assist SPED teachers in implementing instructional programs for students.
• Assist with employability and daily living training in community settings.
• Assist in transporting students in the community setting.
• Collect data and maintain confidential student records and progress charts.
• Provide non-medical care and support as needed per IEP and instruction.
• Assist in implementing behavior intervention strategies and assistive tech as directed.
• Prepare and duplicate instructional materials; maintain equipment for student programs.
