Job summary

Seneca Family of Agencies is hiring a Classroom Counselor in Hayward, CA to guide students with emotional and behavioral challenges toward classroom success. You will provide individualized attention, direct instruction, and support for academic growth while promoting social-emotional well-being and progress on treatment goals.

Working within the HEART Program in partnership with Hayward Unified School District, you will collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to deliver

Qualifications

• Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree OR Associate degree with 1 year of relevant experience OR High School Diploma with 2 years of relevant experience.
• Experience working with youth or families in classroom or mental health settings is preferred.
• Must be at least 21 years old and have reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate within a transdisciplinary team including teachers, counselors, specialists and program leadership.
• Build therapeutic relationships to help students engage and meet personalized goals.
• Support academic instruction by assisting with individual and group activities.
• Implement classroom modifications based on IEPs and other plans.
• Deliver direct behavioral intervention to promote positive behaviors for learning.
• Collect data and document services to measure effectiveness and inform decisions.
• Communicate with families and other Seneca programs and external agencies.
• Utilize crisis communication and de-escalation techniques per crisis training.

Education

Bachelor’s degree
