Job summary

Greenspire School in Traverse City seeks a full-time High School Special Education Teacher to provide instruction and support to students with special needs. Must hold Michigan secondary teaching certification with an endorsement in Special Education.

The role involves planning engaging lessons, implementing IEPs, and collaborating with colleagues to design cross-disciplinary, project-based units that connect to real-world issues.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education is required.
• A master's degree is a plus.
• Valid Michigan secondary teaching certification with endorsement in Special Education.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in special education.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans meeting standards for diverse learners.
• Develop assessments and evaluate student performance (tests, quizzes, projects).
• Create and implement IEPs for students with special needs.
• Deliver instruction in various settings (1:1, small group, co-taught) using evidence-based strategies.
• Provide academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
• Collaborate with general education teachers to include students in all activities.
• Monitor progress and adjust instruction as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and services.
• Stay current on best practices in special education and disabilities.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events.
