Job summary

Greenspire School in Traverse City, MI, is seeking a full-time High School Special Education Teacher with a valid Michigan secondary education certification and a Special Education endorsement. You will design and deliver instructional plans, develop IEPs, and collaborate with general education teachers to support students with diverse learning needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education. A master's degree is a plus.
• Valid Michigan secondary teaching certification with Special Education endorsement.
• Experience working with students with disabilities and implementing IEPs.
• Strong knowledge of best practices in special education and disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive lesson plans meeting standards and diverse learning styles.
• Develop assessments and evaluate student performance via tests, quizzes, projects, and presentations.
• Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs.
• Deliver direct instruction in one-on-one, small group, and co-taught settings using evidence-based strategies.
• Provide specialized instruction and support for academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs.
• Collaborate with general education teachers and staff to include students with disabilities in all activities.
• Monitor and assess student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress and services provided.
• Stay up-to-date on best practices and research in special education.
• Participate in school activities, meetings, and events to support the mission.
• Maintain a safe, positive learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
