Description of Project
The Minnesota Department of Information Technology Services (MNIT), in partnership with the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC), is seeking a full-time Project Manager to support project management activities. The role involves managing schedules, coordinating meetings, tracking project progress, and maintaining key documentation. The Project Manager will collaborate with internal teams and other Program/Project Managers to ensure projects stay on track and align with business goals. The focus is on overseeing project coordination and technology operations readiness for a $54MM Transformation Program, which aims to:
- Implement new commercial/configurable off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions to modernize legacy systems.
- Establish comprehensive Data Management capabilities for data ownership, custodianship, stewardship, and governance, enabling data-driven decision-making.
- Develop, train, and migrate to improved IT processes and procedures to realize benefits from new technologies and products.
Tasks:
- Manage projects using Agile, Waterfall, and/or Iterative methodologies, including hybrid approaches.
- Complete project planning, scheduling, scope, cost, risk management, status reporting, change management, and issue resolution.
- Oversee software implementation projects, including custom, COTS, SaaS, supporting infrastructure, services, and enterprise solutions.
- Utilize project and portfolio management software to track and manage projects.
- Prioritize, delegate, and escalate project concerns as needed.
- Communicate effectively with stakeholders to facilitate decision-making.
- Maintain clear verbal and written communication for mutual understanding.
- Build rapport, motivate team members, and foster collaboration across functions.
- Practice strong customer service, active listening, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
- Manage procurement processes.
- Provide knowledge transfer to ensure project continuity.
Desired Skills:
- Knowledge of industry best practices in project management, including PMBoK and Agile principles.
- Understanding of the Software/System Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Experience with procurement processes.
- Proficiency in managing projects with hybrid methodologies.
- Experience in large data migration and interface/data exchange efforts.
- Strong background in managing software implementation projects (custom, COTS, SaaS).
- Proficient in project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Planview, or DevOps.
