Job summary

The City of Amarillo is hiring an Equipment Operator for the Transfer Station. You will operate roll-off and transfer trucks, perform daily inspections, and assist with backhoe tasks as needed.

You must hold a valid Texas CDL (Class A or B) and have 1–2 years of truck experience. The role requires working varied shifts, including evenings and weekends, and offers weather-essential status with hospital-grade safety expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid Class A or B Texas CDL required.
• Experience operating light, medium, or heavy trucks preferred.

Responsibilities

• Operates roll-off trucks, transfer trucks, and trailers and performs daily vehicle checks.
• Pushes trash into pits and assists with backhoe operations as directed.
• Drives safely in traffic and adheres to all laws; reports unsafe conditions.
• Performs routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment as assigned.
• Acts as weather-ready essential personnel and supports transfer station operations.
