Job summary

Worcester County Government is seeking a Station Attendant to verify homeowner stickers, assist with refuse disposal and recyclables sorting, and perform grounds maintenance at transfer stations and the Central Landfill. Duties include safety participation and timely completion of tasks.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and driving record with less than 4 points.
• Ability to follow verbal and written instructions; keep simple records; communicate effectively with the public and coworkers.
• Ability to perform manual labor including lifting up to 50 lbs and operating vehicles/equipment.
• Highly self-motivated, proactive, and able to manage tasks with minimal supervision.
• Some work may involve exposure to potentially hazardous conditions (traffic, refuse, weather).

Responsibilities

• Ensure customers have a valid homeowner’s sticker or bag tags for disposal.
• Assist the public in disposal of refuse and sorting of recyclables at county transfer sites.
• Perform general labor tasks including mowing grass and grounds maintenance.
• Participate in safety training and complete assigned tasks on time.
• Cross-train and back up other staff as needed.
• Maintain harmonious working relationships with coworkers and the public; follow safety programs.
