The Transfer Driver is responsible for safely transporting cargo to and from pre-designated sites based on daily routing information. A walking floor truck-trailer combination is used to transport trash, green waste, C&D (wood, asphalt, and roof shingles). This position is responsible for efficiently servicing assigned locations, while complying with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and company policies.

Job Description

1. Daily driving to specific landfills, depending on weather conditions. Properly secures cargo and maneuvers vehicle in and around tight corners and high pedestrian traffic.
2. Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle/equipment, and completes necessary forms.
3. Tarp trailer to ensure no trash flies out. Manual cranking of the device will be needed.
4. Climb and get in the back of the trailer to sweep out residue of trash remaining in the truck after dumping trash.
5. During winter, shovel snow and put chains on the truck depending on road conditions.
6. Change tires of both trailer and truck as needed.
7. Maintain a safe and clean working vehicle.
8. Report any unsafe situations to the supervisor.
9. Perform other duties as assigned.
10. Work overtime as needed.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or G.E.D.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Valid Class A Commercial License.
• Clean Driving Record.
• Able to meet all DOT requirements.
• Provide exceptional customer service at all times.
• Follow through on multiple challenges as they arise.
• Perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industries.
• Freight delivery driving experience.
• Physical requirements include standing, walking, seeing, hearing, and smelling continuously.
• Skills include problem solving, oral/written communication, analytical ability, concentration, and interpersonal skills.
• Eye/hand coordination, handling, and wrist motion continuously.

Physical demands include frequent bending, reaching, stretching, and lifting up to 50 lbs.

• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, and noise continuously.
• Work outdoors only.
