Job summary

CLA is seeking a Manager/Director – Transaction Tax in New York to lead tax due diligence, planning, and advisory engagements for acquisitions and dispositions. The role focuses on managing client relationships, mentoring staff, and coordinating with SALT, International, and Federal Tax Solutions teams.

The ideal candidate holds a CPA license with at least 5 years of federal/state/international tax experience, and a degree in Accounting or Finance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• Minimum 5 years of federal, state, and/or international tax compliance, planning, and consulting services.
• CPA license required. A JD degree or Enrolled Agent (EA) certification may be accepted in lieu of a CPA license.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop relationships with new business development, existing clients and mentoring team members.
• Develop client relationships by delivering tax due diligence, structuring, modeling and other engagements related to acquisitions and dispositions by private equity investor groups, family offices and strategic buyers.
• Collaborate with CLA specialty tax groups (SALT, International Tax, and Federal Tax Solutions).
• Perform tax due diligence by reviewing tax returns, legal documents, and financial statements, and writing tax due diligence reports.
• Lead engagement progress by monitoring time, budgets and deadlines; ensure adherence.
• Communicate important developments to the engagement principal with facts, conclusions, and recommendations.
