**Job Description –Training Supervisor****Department:** Human Resources**Reports to:** Sr. Human Resources Manager**Position Classification:** SalaryTrojan Battery is powered by great people, and this motivated and seasoned maintenance professional will be a champion and model for SAFETY, QUALITY AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT.**Position Overview**The Training Supervisor is responsible for designing, coordinating, delivering, and evaluating workforce training programs funded through California's Employment Training Panel (ETP) program in partnership with employers. This role ensures trainees acquire the job knowledge, technical skills, and competencies required to successfully perform their positions and contribute to operational excellence.The Training Supervisor oversees the implementation of training initiatives, monitors trainee progress, and ensures compliance with ETP program requirements and company standards. In addition, this position provides leadership and direction within the assigned area to ensure all employees adhere to established safety, quality, maintenance, and production procedures. The Training Supervisor collaborates closely with operations leadership, human resources, and subject matter experts to develop a skilled, engaged, and productive workforce while supporting continuous improvement and organizational goals.**Responsibilities*** Assess organizational training needs by partnering with managers, supervisors, Human Resources, and department leaders to identify skill gaps and develop training strategies aligned with business objectives.* Design, develop, implement, and continuously improve training programs, curricula, instructional materials, and schedules that meet operational requirements and California Employment Training Panel (ETP) program guidelines.* Deliver engaging classroom, hands-on, and on-the-job training using a variety of instructional methods that accommodate different learning styles and employee developmental needs.* Maintain and update Level Guideline documentation to ensure training standards, certification requirements, and work processes remain current and accurate.* Administer and document the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) Level Guidelines certification process for bargaining unit employees in the Production, Maintenance, Shipping, and Quality departments.* Evaluate trainee performance, competency, and skill development through assessments, observations, and performance metrics to ensure successful qualification and certification.* Provide coaching, mentoring, and developmental support to employees, Team Lead Trainers, and trainees to enhance job proficiency, engagement, and career growth.* Monitor training effectiveness and analyze key performance indicators, including skill attainment, retention, productivity, quality, and training program outcomes.* Partner with operational leaders and business stakeholders to ensure training content, delivery methods, and qualification standards support production goals and industry best practices.* Develop and maintain employee skills matrices, training records, certification tracking systems, and performance monitoring tools to support workforce development and compliance objectives.* Prepare, maintain, and submit all required ETP documentation, including trainee records, attendance logs, progress reports, reimbursement documentation, and performance data.* Coordinate and conduct orientation and onboarding training for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into production environments and compliance with company standards.* Demonstrate and train employees on the safe and efficient setup, operation, and troubleshooting of manufacturing equipment and production processes.* Ensure employees follow established safety procedures, environmental requirements, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).* Identify performance deficiencies, procedural violations, and behavioral concerns; provide coaching and corrective guidance while communicating issues to management as appropriate.* Communicate company policies, procedures, work instructions, safety requirements, and operational expectations to employees in a clear and consistent manner.* Provide feedback and input regarding employee performance, skill progression, and training effectiveness during performance evaluation processes.* Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives, including Lean Manufacturing practices, 5S, housekeeping, hygiene, standard work, and waste reduction activities.* Supervise, coach, and develop Team Lead Trainers to ensure training consistency, effectiveness, and adherence to company standards.* Promote and support compliance with the company's Quality Policy and applicable quality management requirements.* Ensure compliance with Blood Lead Health and Hygiene Protocols and all applicable regulatory, environmental, and workplace safety requirements.* Foster a positive learning environment that promotes employee engagement, accountability, continuous learning, and operational excellence.* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.**Basic Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in Workforce Development, Training and Development, Human Resources, Manufacturing Operations, Business Administration, Education, Organizational Development, or a related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.* Minimum of three (3) years of experience in vocational training, employee development, job coaching, workforce development, or a related training function within a manufacturing environment.* Previous manufacturing, production, warehouse, or industrial operations experience required.* Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating, and delivering hands-on and classroom training programs.* Knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional methods, and competency-based training practices.* Must possess and maintain all required training certifications for assigned areas of responsibility.* Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.* Strong verbal, written, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.* Ability to train, coach, motivate, and develop employees across multiple skill and experience levels.* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, deadlines, and training schedules.* Experience maintaining training records, certifications, qualification documentation, and compliance-related reports.* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and other department-specific software programs.* Ability to analyze employee performance data, track training metrics, and prepare reports to support operational and compliance objectives.* Knowledge of manufacturing safety practices, OSHA requirements, personal protective equipment (PPE), and workplace safety standards.* Ability to work effectively with employees, union-represented personnel, supervisors, managers, Human Resources, and cross-functional teams.**Preferred Qualifications*** Experience administering training programs funded through the California Employment Training Panel (ETP) or similar workforce development programs.* Experience managing qualification and certification programs within a unionized manufacturing environment.* Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, 5S, Train-the-Trainer, or other continuous improvement certifications.* Experience supervising trainers, team leads, or training coordinators.* Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) training and certification requirements.* First Aid, CPR, and other workplace safety certifications.**Physical Demands**The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
