Job summary

Southwest Power Pool (SPP) is seeking a Training Specialist to design, deliver, and evaluate training solutions that improve employee performance and organizational capability. The role focuses on curriculum design, delivery facilitation, and learning documentation across the business.

The position supports a hybrid work environment with opportunities to impact across multiple teams, leveraging SME partnerships and data-driven evaluation to drive measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree is required.
  • 2 years of curriculum design and development, training or relevant technical experience.
  • Experience using learning technologies and authoring tools.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver learning solutions that measurably improve capability, technical proficiency, and operational performance.
  • Build engaging courses, materials, and tools that meet instructional design standards.
  • Maintain training content so that it stays current with evolving business processes and system updates.
  • Partner with leaders and SMEs to identify performance gaps and create training solutions.
  • Use data—evaluations, assessments, and metrics—to measure learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
  • Facilitate learning sessions (virtual and in-person) that are interactive and aligned with adult learning principles.

Compensation Information

Training Specialist Salary range: $64,060 – $78,465

Overview

The Training Specialist creates meaningful learning experiences that improve employee performance, strengthen organizational capability, and support strategic goals. This role focuses on designing, delivering, and evaluating training solutions that lead to measurable outcomes across the business. The training specialist will specialize in at least one of the following areas- Delivery and Facilitation Curriculum Design and Support Learning Documentation and Records

Core Responsibilities
Learning Solution Design
  • Deliver learning solutions that measurably improve capability, technical proficiency, and operational performance, reflecting best practices in instructional design and adult-learning theory.
High-Quality, Effective Learning Content
  • Build engaging courses, materials, and tools that meet instructional design standards and reflect SME‑validated accuracy.
  • Maintain training content so that it stays current with evolving business processes and system updates.
Measurable Business Impact
  • Partner with leaders and SMEs to identify performance gaps and create training solutions that directly address them.
  • Use data—evaluations, assessments, and operational metrics to measure learning effectiveness and recommend improvements.
Delivery
  • Facilitate learning sessions (virtual and in‑person) that are interactive, clear, and aligned with adult learning principles.
  • Ensure learners have the resources, support, and follow‑up materials needed to apply skills on the job.
Strong Partnerships and Cross‑Team Collaboration
  • Build relationships with SMEs, HR, managers, and other business partners to ensure training aligns with organizational needs.
  • Act as a trusted partner who communicates proactively, gathers context, and collaborates to produce the right learning solutions.
