Job summary

University of Maryland, College Park seeks a Training Lead to oversee the development, delivery, and optimization of Workday Student training. You will translate complex configurations into actionable learning materials and lead a team of Training specialists, coordinating sessions and documentation across the Elevate project.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of relevant experience including leadership, and strong instructional design skills in a higher‑education setting.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • 3+ years of professional experience with at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Prior experience in a higher‑education environment is strongly preferred.
  • Experience leading a workstream or managing contributors for training materials.
  • Expertise in instructional design and role‑based learning solutions.
  • Fluency in Google Suite and proficiency with Articulate, Biteable, Camtasia, and LMS/EMS platforms.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and adaptable interpersonal skills.

Job Summary

The University of Maryland’s Division of Information Technology (DIT) is recruiting a Training Lead for the Elevate team. The role leads the development, delivery, and optimization of training programs for the Workday Student information system, translating complex technical, functional, and security configurations into actionable learning materials. The Training Lead supervises a team of Training specialists, coordinates instructor‑led sessions, workshops, and documentation to support system implementations and adoption, and works closely with project stakeholders across the Elevate team.

Responsibilities
  • Lead development, delivery, and optimization of training programs for Workday Student.
  • Translate Workday technical, functional, and security configurations into learning materials.
  • Design and conduct instructor‑led sessions, workshops, and create supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with project teams, campus stakeholders, and senior leaders to identify training needs and deliver solutions.
  • Manage a team of Training specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, and professional development.
  • Ensure compliance with documentation standards and best practices across all training deliverables.
  • Maintain quality standards, adhere to deadlines, and manage workloads effectively.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) or more years of professional experience, with one (1) year in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Prior experience in a higher‑education environment (institutional, consulting, or system implementation) is strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a workstream or manage contributors responsible for developing training materials.
  • Expertise in instructional design and creation of role‑based learning solutions.
  • Fluency in Google Suite and proficiency with training development and delivery tools such as Articulate, Biteable, Camtasia, and LMS/EMS platforms.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt style to diverse audiences.
  • Collaborative, detail‑oriented, and effective in fast‑moving environments.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
  • Knowledge of communication principles and techniques for written and oral contexts.
  • Knowledge of documentation standards, procedures, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of office productivity software such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace.
  • Skill in leading presentations and conducting training sessions for large groups.
  • Skill in collaborating with managers and directors to resolve problems and implement improvements.
  • Skill in coaching and mentoring team members to enhance performance.
  • Ability to define deadlines, manage workloads, and maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to navigate complex interpersonal situations with empathy and discretion.
  • Ability to implement and uphold documentation standards across all team functions.
Physical Demands
  • Normal office environment – sedentary work.
  • Occasional exertion of up to 10 pounds of force.
  • Travel around campus for meetings and duties as required.
Employment Details
  • Employment type: Staff, Contractual (C2) – Fixed Term
  • Salary Range: $108,480 – $130,176
  • Location: College Park, MD (in‑person component required; telework not guaranteed)
