Job summary

Precision Castparts is seeking a Training Specialist to coordinate onboarding and ongoing training for plant floor personnel in our Ohio facility. The role focuses on classroom and on-the-job training for operation and maintenance of production equipment, safety, and quality practices to ensure safe and effective work performance.

You will develop training materials, maintain records, and collaborate with SMEs to update procedures, while using LMS to monitor progress and maintain compliance.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with training employees and onboarding new hires.
  • Wax Airfoils experience a strong plus; strong training background.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise training components and SOPs for the area.
  • Assess and document employee procedural competencies.
  • Administer training records and track progress per plant program.
  • Coordinate with plant training resources to schedule sessions and ensure coverage.
  • Access LMS and plant systems to input/export training data and reports.
  • Maintain positive working relationships and handle stress to foster a productive environment.
  • Champion continuous improvement of training effectiveness.

Primary Purpose Of The Position

Coordinates and executes onboarding and training of plant floor personnel using classroom and on-the-job training for the operation and maintenance of production equipment, job safety practices, quality policies and procedures for the safe and effective performance of the work assignment.

Coordinates and executes onboarding and training of plant floor personnel using classroom and on-the-job training for the operation and maintenance of production equipment, job safety practices, quality policies and procedures for the safe and effective performance of the work assignment.

Essential Responsible Areas
  • Leads and assists in developing training program components and/or methods of training, to include:
  • Assessment and documentation of employees in procedural competencies
  • Revises instructional material documents based on current requirements/practices
  • Initiates, reviews, and follows all standard operating procedures (SOPs) for area of responsibility.
  • Supports components of new employee onboarding, leading some of the classroom and on the job training and coordinating with other SMEs
  • Administers training records and tracks training progress as prescribed by the plant training program guidelines, and reports progress regularly to individual trainees, supervisors and other stakeholders.
  • Evaluates employee proficiency by administering applicable assessments.
  • Coordinates and schedules training with plant training resources
  • Accesses, inputs, and exports information from plant computer systems, and the learning management system (LMS).
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the division, the group, and the company. Includes ability to handle stress and to interact with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment and minimize personal conflicts.
  • Required to work assigned schedule as determined by plant location. Incumbent must be able to work flexible hours to provide training to off shifts as needed.
  • Champions continuous improvement of plant technical training effectiveness.
Position Requirement & Competencies

Professional & Education Qualification

  • High School Diploma or GED required. Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • 4+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably in high speed manufacturing
  • Experience with Wax Airfoils a strong plus
  • Previous experience training employees
Skills
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively train plant floor employees on safe and effective operations of plant production equipment and processes, utilizing adult learning techniques and constructively delivers feedback on training progress.
  • Must be able to prioritize multiple projects, perform complex tasks, organize and follow through consistently and work under pressure to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficient computer skills to include but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite. Other computer skills?
  • Strong written and oral communication, facilitation and presentation skills (communicate at all levels of the organization)
  • Excellent customer service skills and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Be inclusive of new hires and continuous development of employees
  • Ability to apply independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard can and end making techniques, procedures, and criteria.
