Job summary

New Mexico Mutual is seeking a Training Consultant in Albuquerque to design, develop, coordinate, and deliver training for agent partners, policyholders, and employees. You will create curricula aligned with organizational strategy and administer learning systems and training logistics.

You will collaborate with SMEs to produce engaging online content, manage the LMS, and evaluate training effectiveness using feedback and performance metrics for stakeholders. Travel is less than 10%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, business, human resources, communications, or related field.
• Two to four years of experience in learning and development, including instructional design, curriculum/content development, and training facilitation/delivery.
• Spanish language proficiency preferred, with ability to develop and facilitate training and respond to questions.

Job Title: Training Consultant

Department: Safety & Corporate Development

Reports to: Safety & Corporate Development Manager

Position Summary:

The Training Consultant collaborates with stakeholders to identify learning needs and is responsible for designing, developing, coordinating, and delivering training for agent partners, policyholders, and employees. The position develops curricula and training solutions aligned with organizational strategy; administers learning systems and training logistics; evaluates training effectiveness; and assists with budget administration.

Essential Functions:

• Partner with department subject matter experts (SMEs) to design, develop, update, and deliver custom training programs and curriculum for agent partners, policyholders, and internal employees.
• Create engaging, interactive online learning content using modern instructional design techniques and digital authoring tools (e.g., eLearning modules, videos, simulations, job aids, and microlearning).
• Administer, manage, and maintain the Learning Management System (LMS), including course setup, registrations, enrollments, completions tracking, reporting, and ongoing course catalog management.
• Facilitate and coordinate in-office, virtual, and field-based training sessions to support organizational learning initiatives.
• Research, evaluate, and curate internal and external training resources to continuously improve learning offerings.
• Manage Continuing Education (CE) course offerings, including coordination with instructors, course scheduling, compliance requirements, and documentation.
• Leverage existing evaluation tools, learner feedback mechanisms, and performance metrics to measure training effectiveness, while supporting continuous improvement of assessment practices; analyze results and provide reporting to stakeholders.
• Support and coach internal instructors and facilitators by providing guidance on instructional design best practices, presentation techniques, learner engagement strategies, and delivery consistency.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure training programs align with business goals, compliance standards, and organizational priorities.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

Job Qualifications

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in instructional design, education, business, human resources, communications, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

Experience:

Two to four years of progressively responsible experience in learning and development, including instructional design, curriculum or content development, and training facilitation or delivery. Spanish language proficiency preferred, with the ability to effectively develop and facilitate training, present information to groups, and respond to participant questions.

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Strong facilitation and instructional delivery skills for in-person, virtual, and hybrid learning environments.
• Skill in applying instructional design and adult learning principles to develop and adapt training content and learning experiences.
• Ability to analyze learner feedback, evaluation results, and performance information and communicate findings to stakeholders.
• Skill in stakeholder consultation and learning needs assessment to identify training gaps and recommend effective learning solutions.
• Skill in coaching and developing instructors and facilitators to enhance instructional design, presentation effectiveness, and learner engagement.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently while collaborating across teams.
• Learning Management System (LMS) administration skills, including course setup, learner enrollment, completion tracking, catalog maintenance, and reporting.
• Communicate complex information clearly and effectively through written and verbal communication while maintaining strong attention to detail.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, etc.:Technical and Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing interactive eLearning content using tools such as Articulate 360 (Storyline/Rise), Vyond, Camtasia, Audiate, Canva, or comparable platforms.
• Experience with video editing, animation, simulations, job aids, microlearning, or related digital learning formats is preferred.
• Experience administering or supporting Continuing Education (CE/CEU) programs and compliance-driven training is preferred.
• Experience in corporate learning and development, professional services, insurance, safety, compliance, or another regulated industry is preferred.
• Professional certification in training, facilitation, instructional design, or adult learning, such as CPTD, APTD, or a comparable credential, is preferred.
