Trainer I – Broadmoor Campus
Position Summary
Assesses and analyzes electronic medical record end‑user learning needs; develops and maintains curriculum and tools to meet those needs. Implements a credentialed trainer program to ensure all classroom trainers have proper system knowledge and can deliver training content effectively. Configures EMR training environment so end‑users can practice using the system. Collaborates with analysts to incorporate the latest system configuration information into training material. Designs and executes ongoing training programs for new hires and system changes/upgrades.
Responsibilities and Essential Job Functions
- Participates in EMR application activities that may impact training.
- Understands and participates in all relevant application, stakeholder, and leadership roles and approval processes.
- Demonstrates competence in designing and developing adult learning curriculum for the healthcare setting, including EMR.
- Applies knowledge of healthcare settings, EMR, overall IT systems, software, and adult learning methodologies.
- Maintains and applies knowledge in the assigned area, applying it to assigned tasks.
- Sustains knowledge in assigned support areas for on‑call and routine activities.
- Plans, coordinates, and delivers training methodologies for the HITS department and customers.
- Ensures sufficient implementation team and stakeholder involvement in the training process.
- Follows training plans to ensure adequate training.
- Uses approved training plan templates to include schedule and resource requirements; reviews with project manager or manager for approval and sign‑off.
- Follows leadership direction in training initiatives.
- Assists in identifying test scripts to help develop lesson plans during system, integration, and regression testing.
- Obtains certification or proficiency in the assigned EPIC application (or demonstrates learning of another assigned application) within six months of employment or assignment. Failure to achieve certification under the specified guidelines may result in employment termination.
- Supports training expectations for new department hires.
- Ensures all training is properly documented, logged, tracked, and managed.
- Responds to off‑duty calls as required.
- Participates in 24/7 command center activities as assigned.
- Performs the professional, clinical, and/or technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Required Education and Experience
- Associate’s Degree in Education, Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Training, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- One or more years of training experience.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- One or more years of healthcare experience.
- Two or more years of training experience.
Preferred Licensure and Certification
- Certification in one Epic application – national certification (e.g., HIMSS programs).
Knowledge Requirements
- Capable of using a phone, computer monitor, and technical documentation; follows directions and completes tasks; solves common design and development problems; applies critical thinking and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient computer skills.
