Job summary

City of Abilene, Texas is seeking an entry- to mid-level Treatment Plant Operator to operate and maintain the wastewater treatment facility. You will perform chemical dosing, monitor SCADA systems, conduct laboratory tests, and maintain accurate records.

Training is provided for Trainee level with progression to Operator I/II/III as experience grows. A Texas driver’s license and relevant licenses are required within specified timelines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
• TCEQ license requirements vary by level (D for trainee, C/B/A for higher levels).

Responsibilities

• Calculate chemical dosages and monitor chemical feed pumps.
• Record and review laboratory test results for wastewater quality and treatment optimization.
• Backwash filters and maintain plant equipment and records.
• Monitor SCADA systems and meters to assess plant status.
• Perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on plant equipment.
• Operate a vehicle daily as part of duties.
