Job summary

Metro Water Recovery in Denver, CO is seeking a trainee Plant Operator for the Brighton, CO location. The selected candidate will work toward obtaining a Wastewater Class D Operator license and transition to night shifts based on needs.

You will assist with plant operation, monitor unit processes, and perform field measurements under supervision. Training includes hands-on instruction, safety practices, and progress toward licensure.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; valid driver’s license.
• Willingness to work night shifts (6:00 p.m.–6:00 a.m. or 2:00 p.m.–2:00 a.m.) as needed.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and operate wastewater plant equipment.
• Comfort with field measurements and data collection for supervisor review.

Responsibilities

• Participate in Metro’s staff training program.
• Monitor wastewater unit processes and support equipment.
• Make adjustments to unit process variables to meet performance targets.
• Conduct field measurements and analyses for supervisor review.
• Follow standard operating procedures for equipment and processes.
• Assist with inspections, adjustments, and bring equipment in and out of service.
• Support routine maintenance and housekeeping tasks.
• Report incidents and resource needs per established lines.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
