Job summary

American Water seeks a skilled Treatment Plant Operator to operate, maintain, and inspect the water treatment plant and related facilities. You will ensure safe, compliant water production and manage solids handling after dewatering processes.

The role requires a Kentucky Class IV-A Water Treatment Operators License and may involve night shifts. You will monitor chemical processes, run tests, and coordinate with teams to maintain optimal plant performance.

Qualifications

• Must be able to read charts, gauges, meters and recording devices.
• Must be able to prepare and maintain neat paperwork and logs.
• Must perform accurate mathematical calculations for process control.
• Knowledge of water rules/regulations and following instructions.
• Past mechanical knowledge for minor repairs to equipment.

Responsibilities

• Monitor operations and analyze chemical processes for process control.
• Operate and adjust plant equipment, pumps and instrumentation.
• Conduct tests and determine chemical feed rates; calibrate equipment.
• Maintain SCADA-driven water supply, transmission and storage systems.
• Perform routine housekeeping and safety inspections of plant facilities.
• Maintain logs, records, and site documentation for compliance.
