Job summary

Duke Energy Florida is seeking an Associate Dispatcher (System Operator) to begin a formal Dispatcher Qualification Program in the Florida Energy Control Center. The role focuses on learning and applying dispatcher functions through classroom, on‑the‑job training, and power system simulation.

The position involves operating and maintaining the high voltage transmission system, coordinating switching activities, and optimizing resources while ensuring safe, reliable, and economical operation.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Electrical Technology and 6 years of directly related experience.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical field may substitute for 6 years' experience.
• Military certifications may be accepted in lieu of the two-year degree in electrical technology.

Responsibilities

• Complete Dispatcher Qualification Program within 12–15 months.
• Operate and maintain high voltage transmission safely and reliably.
• Work 12‑hour rotating shifts in a 24‑hour operation; be available days/nights, weekends, or holidays.
