Qualifications

• Requires at least five GCSE/O’Levels including English Language, Mathematics and a science subject.

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a similar field.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation, disconnection and removal of meters and service lines.
• Conduct line inspection on overhead lines and underground circuits; climb wooden poles using spikes as needed.
• Assist with pole planting, framing, line connections, cable laying, circuit switching and area isolation operations.
• Provide support to senior linemen with construction tasks and major repairs to the electric network; perform routine duties such as wiring street light fixtures and fuse replacement.

VACANCY – TRAINEE LINEMAN

St. Vincent Electricity Services Limited has a vacancy for a motivated and safety conscious individual to fill the position of Trainee Lineman. This job is executed primarily in an outdoor environment and as such requires an energetic individual.

JOB SUMMARY

Successful candidates will assist in the installation, disconnection and removal of domestic, commercial and industrial meters and service lines. He/she will be required to conduct line inspection on overhead lines and underground circuits; and climb wooden poles using spikes when necessary. Additional duties include assisting with pole planting, framing, line connections, cable laying, circuit switching, and area isolation operations. Candidates will also provide support to senior linemen with construction tasks and major repairs to the electric network system, as well as routine duties such as wiring street light fixtures, fuse replacement, making of stays and replacement of line hardware.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• Candidates should have at least five (5) CSEC/GCSE O’Levels including English Language, Mathematics and a Science related subject
• Successful completion of an Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent at a Technical Institute
• A minimum of 1-year experience in a similar field
• A class C Driver’s License will be an asset
