Job summary

The Minnesota Department of Transportation is recruiting a Trainee-Graduate Engineer to enter a structured 2-year training program with multiple 3–6 month rotations. You will gain professional engineering experience across Construction, Design, Materials, Traffic, and Project Management, with Bridge office opportunities and extensive mentorship.

Eligibility includes a BS in Civil/related engineering (ABET-accredited), GPA >2.5, and a valid Class D license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or closely related field from ABET-accredited program.
• GPA greater than 2.5.
• Valid Class D driver's license.
• GPA, advanced degree, FE/PE certification, related engineering work experience, MnDOT experience considered in evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in MnDOT's Graduate Engineer Training Program, a 2-year rotation with 3–6 month assignments.
• Rotate through Construction, Design, Materials, Project Management, Traffic, or Water Resources; Bridge path options exist.
• Receive structured mentorship and a large support network of engineers for growth and development.
• Complete program requirements and rotate through required locations statewide.
