Minnesota Department of Corrections is hiring Trainee Corrections Officers for Faribault and Red Wing. The role trains for 6 weeks on day shift, then assigns a shift. The position starts as a trainee with a starting pay of $61,826 annually and 29.61/hour, with pathways to Corrections Officer 1 and promotions after probation.

Travel during training is required. Minimum qualifications include age, education, background checks, firearm eligibility, and driving license.

Formación

• Be at least 18 years old to work at an adult correctional facility, and at least 21 years old to work at a juvenile correctional facility (MCF-Red Wing).
• Possess a high school diploma or GED.
• Be able to pass a criminal history check, including prior sentencing/restitution requirements, and comply with background checks.
• Be able to possess a firearm and have a valid driver's license.
• One or more years of full-time work experience OR two+ years of part-time work experience OR completion of an associate/bachelor's degree in a related field OR honorable discharge or current service in the U.S. Armed Forces OR internship in a Minnesota Correctional Facility.

Responsabilidades

• Ensure the safety, security, and control of the correctional facility.
• Supervise incarcerated people to encourage positive behavior and successful transition upon release.
• Provide clear written and verbal information for sound decisions and actions.
• Be competent in the use of equipment and respond to emergencies using ICS procedures.
• Follow agency policies and support DOC's vision, mission, and initiatives.
