Job summary

Clarksons in Houston seeks a Trainee Broker to support the broker desk during the daily trading cycle and assist with broker confirmations. Training will be provided to get you up to speed on internal processes and market practices.

You will compile daily volume analyses, update market data, learn Bloomberg and Argus tools, and help with reporting and client inquiries while gaining exposure to crude market dynamics.

Qualifications

• Willing to obtain Series 3 and Series 30 licenses.
• Strong Excel data handling and charting.
• Experience with Bloomberg terminal is beneficial.
• Able to back up broker confirmations and write up daily transactions.
• Excellent communication and teamwork in a trading floor environment.

Job description

The role of the Trainee Broker encompasses support for the broker desk during the daily trading cycle, back-up for broker confirmations, and assisting the office manager as needed in daily tasks. Training will be provided.

LINK CRUDE/LINK FUTURES

• Compile analysis of prior day's trading volumes and enter data into corresponding spreadsheets Domestic Canadian and Rockies internal market recaps
• Update and maintain Wallboard market information

• Learn and utilize the Bloomberg terminal and Link page

• Keep public folder Contacts up to date
• Generate ranking reports and revenue reports weekly
• Execute relevant reports for both internal use and client submission
  • Link Daily Report- enter trades and generate report
  • Forward Curve-enter values and generate each report daily
  • Canadian Report- enter values and generate report
• Assist brokers in writing up daily transactions as they occur in real time

• Input and save all Argus data for relevant analyses
  • Develop relevant market analyses as needed
  • Have a working knowledge of Excel for charting/data presentation
• Clear trades as needed through relevant exchange portals
• Enter customer transactions into E-Confirm platforms as needed
• Answer phones throughout the day as needed.
• Maintain up to date market information throughout the day

• Updating settlement prices for Forward curve
• Manage distribution lists for all LDS reports.
