Winona Health is seeking a Trained Medication Assistant for Lake Winona Manor in Winona, MN. This 1.0 FTE role covers days and evenings, with shifts 6:45am–3:15pm or 2:45pm–11:15pm, and every 4th weekend. Starting pay ranges from $19.75 to $21.25 per hour.

Responsibilities include medication administration under supervision, assisting with resident care plans, and collaborating closely with licensed nurses to ensure safety and dignity for residents.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • TMA course or completed LPN/RN medication administration class required.
  • CPR Certification required.

(1.0 FTE) 80 hours a pay period
Days/Evenings, hours between 6:45am - 3:15pm and 2:45pm - 11:15pm
Weekends: Every 4th Weekend
Holidays: Every Other
*Starting Pay Between $19.75 - $21.25

Position Overview:

This position exists for the purpose of providing not only direct resident care with a strong emphasis on geriatrics, but also to administer medications in cooperation with and under the direction of a licensed nurse. Employees will be able to utilize and follow the resident plan of care, which includes short- and long-term goals. Employees will possess strong communication skills and work well on a team to enhance resident care, safety and dignity.

  • Administration of medications following the 5 rights: right drug, right dose, right resident, right time and right route, with knowledge of the medications.
  • Accuracy and efficiency in medication administration using critical thinking skills while demonstrating a strong and positive work ethic that promotes unit cohesiveness and morale.
  • Report any concerns, questions or changes in resident conditions to the licensed or registered nurse.
  • Participation in and capability to complete all daily ADLs for the resident.
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions explicitly.
  • Participates in and supports continuous improvement initiatives.

Skills and Experience:

Required:

  • High school/GED/equivalent.
  • TMA course or successfully completed LPN/RN course medication administration class.
  • CPR Certification.
  • Basic computer skills; Word, Excel, Outlook, Patient information databases (Cerner, EMR, American Data).

Preferred:

  • Long term care experience desired.
