Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking an experienced Train Conductor who will help move freight safely across long distances. You will be trained to handle coupling, inspection, and on-the-job documentation, with initial on-the-job training at the NS training center and ongoing field experience.

The role requires availability on-call 24/7, with extended away-from-home days, and a path to union membership within 60 days after training. A safety-first mindset is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must pass FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license with reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and couple/uncouple cars.
• Communicate with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA safety rules.
