Job summary

Norfolk Southern Corp. is seeking a Train Conductor to join its team. You will be trained to safely build and inspect trains, operate remote control locomotives, and manage documentation across routes.

Qualifications

• Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S.
• Must hold a valid driver’s license and have reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass pre-employment FRA drug and alcohol screening.
• Ability to work on-call 24/7 with as little as 90 minutes notice.
• Must be willing to join a union within 60 days after training.

Responsibilities

• Build and inspect trains, railcars, and equipment for safe operation.
• Operate remote control locomotives and perform coupling, align drawbars, apply hand brakes, and ride railcars.
• Communicate effectively with crews, dispatchers, and yard controllers.
• Maintain accurate documentation and comply with FRA and company safety regulations.
• Must have reliable transportation and ability to report to work within 90 minutes.
• Must pass required FRA medical standards and meet physical requirements.
