Job summary

W&B Service Company in Joliet, IL is seeking a Trailer Technician for full-time, non-exempt work. Duties include preventative maintenance, brake and electrical repairs, welding, and component replacement on semi-trailers to meet DOT standards. Must lift up to 60 pounds and have a valid driver’s license; own tools preferred.

Compensation depends on experience with benefits provided. Experience is welcome but not required; this role supports a large network of trailer services and equipment.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred but not required.
• Mechanical aptitude or construction experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record
• Must have own tools
• Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, stoop, reach, stretch, step, climb, and / or sit frequently throughout the day
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Attention to detail is key for this position

Responsibilities

• Preventative maintenance and repair all systems on Semi-Trailers to meet DOT standards
• Remove and replace brakes, brake drums, hubs, seals, bearings, races and parts
• Repair electrical and lighting systems
• Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, hangers, axles and subframes
• Repair mud flap brackets and dolly leg assemblies
• Repair flooring, rub rails, doors and trims
• Repair roofs and panels
• Welding
• Conform to all safety and health standards

W&B Service Company has an excellent opportunity for a Trailer Technician.We are the largest transport refrigeration dealer of Carrier Transicold, a world leader in Truck, Trailer and rail refrigeration systems. We are also the nation’s largest full service Hyundai Translead trailer dealer. We have 21 facilities throughout the Southwest, including Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana and Oklahoma.

Duties will include:

• Preventative maintenance and repair all systems on Semi-Trailers to meet the minimum standards set forth by DOT

• Repair electrical and lighting systems
• Repair or replace chassis components such as springs, spring hangers, equalizers, complete slider assemblies, axles, and sub frames
• Repair mud flap brackets and dolly leg assembles
• Repair or replace flooring, rub rails, doors and door trim
• Repair roofs, panels, nose panels, lower and upper rails
• Welding
• Conform to all safety and health standards
