Job summary

American Transportation Services is seeking a qualified trailer mechanic to maintain trailer equipment for a Fortune 500 package delivery company in a clean, well-maintained environment. Multiple flexible shifts and relocation options are available across the country, with competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package.

Qualifications include 1–3 years of trailer/chassis mechanic experience, tool readiness, and willingness to pursue DOT inspections and air brake certifications.

Qualifications

• Qualified mechanic: 1-3 years as a trailer/chassis mechanic or similar.
• Must have most required tools and be willing to become certified in DOT inspections and air brakes.
• MIG welding is preferred and experience with trailer repair is required.
• ABS systems troubleshooting and repair experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform FAI and state-required inspections.
• Inspect and repair S-cam air brake systems.
• Diagnose and repair ABS and related braking components.
• Repair commercial trailers and converter dollies in various aspects.
• Complete required paperwork and/or computer records.

American Transportation Services has immediate openings for qualified trailer mechanic. We provide a stable friendly work environment with many flexible shift options to suit your specific needs. Selected candidates will be responsible for maintaining trailering equipment for a Fortune 500 package delivery company in a clean well-maintained environment.

Requirements:

Qualified Mechanic:1-3 years as a trailer/chassis mechanic (or similar). Possess most required tools.

Must Pass Background Check

Responsibilities Include but not limited to:

• Perform FAI and State required inspections.
• Inspect and repair “S” cam air brake systems.
• Diagnose and repair anti-lock brake systems.
• Perform repairs to commercial trailers and converter dollies in all potential aspects.
• Perform the required paperwork and/or computer records accordingly.

Qualifications are, but not limited to:

• Must be 18 years of age
• Must have basic computer skills
• Must have necessary tools to perform job functions
• Willing to work on becoming certified in DOT inspections, Air brake certifications, ASE certified.
• MIG Welding preferred
• Trailer repair: Minimum 1 years’ experience Required
• ABS - System troubleshooting and repair
• Corner Radius Repairs
• Lighting - Troubleshooting and repairs
• Roof repairs – patch, section and replacement
• Scuff liner repairs and or replacements
• Suspensions repairs and replacement
• Major trailer repair/wreck repairs
• Bottom/top rail repairs and or replacements
• Side sheet replacements
• Threshold repair/replacements
